Administration on Aging (Off Site)
The Administration on Aging (AoA), an agency in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was created in 1965 with the passage of the Older Americans Act (OAA). AoA’s mission is to promote the dignity and independence of older people, and to help society prepare for an aging population. As part of the National Network on Aging, AoA works with federal, state, tribal and local agencies to offer home- and community-based services to older persons and their families throughout the United States. The agency also works to increase public awareness, at all levels, about the contributions and needs of older people.

National Family Caregiver Support Program (Off Site)
Through the passage of the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) within the Older Americans Act Reauthorization of 2000, a new focus and resources have been directed to the needs of caregivers in providing long-term care for elders. Services to be provided include counseling, respite care, supplemental services, access assistance and information services. The program also addresses the needs of grandparents caring for grandchildren and for caregivers of those 18 and under with mental retardation or developmental disabilities and the diverse needs of Native Americans.

Minnesota Board on Aging (Off Site)
The Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA) is the gateway to services for seniors and their families. MBA listens to concerns, researches for solutions and proposes policy to address senior needs. In addition, MBA administers funds from the Older Americans Act that provide a spectrum of services to seniors including Senior LinkAge Line®, insurance counseling and more. First established in 1956, the MBA is one of the pioneers in the field of aging. It works closely with its area agencies on aging, which are located throughout the state to provide services that seniors need. The Board's 25 members are appointed by the governor.

Transform 2010 (Off Site)
Transform 2010 is a project to prepare Minnesota for the coming age wave of baby boomers. It is a partnership between the Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Board on Aging, the Department of Health and other state agencies. Specifically, the project is identifying the impacts of the aging of Minnesota’s population on the state, and developing a plan with both short- and long-term goals to transform our infrastructures and services, so that Minnesota can support a permanent change in the age of our state’s population.

MinnesotaHelp.Info (Off Site)
MinnesotaHelp.info is a statewide resource database containing information on more than 12,000 agencies providing such services as health care, education and recreation, retirement, disability and social service information. This Directory contains information on nonprofit and public health and human service programs and some for-profit programs. The site walks consumers through six simple steps that lead them to service and housing options that may benefit them or can assist them in assisting family member, friend or client.
