Transportation
Transportation services are available in most of the Metro area for
medical and non-medical transportation.
Rides are provided in vans, buses or cars. Some of these vehicles are
wheelchair accessible and may also transport individuals by stretcher.
Fees and payment options vary among companies. Some companies charge a
flat pick-up fee and an additional fee per mile. Others may accept
donations or charge on a sliding-fee scale. Some private insurance, Medical Assistance
and long-term care waiver programs may also pay for transportation if the
ride is primarily for a medical appointment. Volunteers may provide
transportation for free.
