Cities & Municipalities
City policies are determined by a council of elected officials. This
council can include council members as well as the mayor. Other
municipalities such as townships elect to have a Board work on behalf of
residents. Elected officials at the city level work on aging policies
related to infrastructure such as roadways, trails, and housing types.

Counties
County policies are determined by Commissioners who are elected by
residents of the county. Elected officials at the county level work on
aging policies such as adult protection and funding for services.

State Legislature
Every person in Minnesota is represented in the Legislature by two
elected individuals, a representative and a senator. Elected officials
at the state level work on aging policies such as Alternative
Care, Medical Assistance, and adult protection.

Every person in Minnesota is represented in Congress by three elected
individuals, a representative and two senators. Elected officials at the
